Exam Version Without Proctoring Tool |
Hello SOLS instructors, Sometimes you may need to accommodate a student who is not able to use a proctoring tool, like Honorlock or Respondus LockDown Browser, for a variety of reasons. This may include: - Students who are deployed with the military and cannot install a proctoring tool due to security concerns
- Students who are in an area without suitable internet bandwidth to run a proctoring tool
- Students who use publicly-accessible computers at a library
- Students who use assistive technology that is inhibited by a proctoring tool
Regardless of the situation, you can accommodate the student(s) by creating a copy of the exam and editing the settings following the steps below. |
Copy the Assignment: Navigate to the exam you need to copy. Open the 3 stacked dot menus and select the "Copy To..." option. |  |

Add to the Current Shell: When the sidebar pops up for copying the assignment, copy it to the current course shell in the same module as the original exam. |  |

Change the Assignment Name: When the assignment is copied over, change the name of the new version so you can distinguish the two. |  |

Assign the New Version: Assign the new version of the exam to the individual students who require the accommodation by following the TLC guide on assigning to an individual student. Excuse these students from the proctoring tool version of the assignment. |  |

Edit Proctoring Tool Settings: Now you can enter the proctoring tool portal in your Canvas shell and check that the proctoring tool is disabled for the version of the exam that does not require it, and that the proctoring tool is enabled for the version that the rest of the students will be taking. | |
